Life on the Road...

How do you stop time? Take a road trip to Perryville, Illinois! OK, maybe it wasn't that long a drive, but really day after day after day, from Nevada to Arizona to New Mexico to Texas to Oklahoma to Missouri to Illinois, Perryville, Illinois. Wow, 7 states in 2 days driving and driving and driving. Did you know the fields of Northern Texas look just like the fields of Southern Oklahoma! If I didn't see the signs I would never have guessed we crossed the border! If someone from Oklahoma hears that I couldn't' find any difference between Texas and Oklahoma, I would be tarred and feathered. Of course they are different (someone please explain how).

Driving can be a very boring or a very interesting experience. Michael and I found a wonderful way to make the adventure more venturous. We listened to the Clive Cussler novel "The Chase". The audio book lasted through most of the first leg of the journey and we so enjoyed the 1940's radio style adventure that we listened again on our way back to Vegas. Of course the way back was completely different than the trip east. After all we had a new puppy with us! Yes, Lady Bear had the adventure of a lifetime from truck stop to La Quinta which was kind enough to accept and encourage pets.

How do you know when to stop so that a puppy can perform bodily functions? Do you stop at predetermined intervals? Do you wait until they are whining (puppies always whine about something). The crate training book did not give us very good instructions and when our breeder delivered the puppy to us as the predetermine hotel location, he didn't really leave any instructions, just a puppy, a crate, some food, water bowl, newspaper, a handshake and a "Good Luck".

Wow, this is almost worse than bringing a baby home from the hospital. When is someone going to realize that new parents of babies and puppies NEED AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL!!!

Life on the road is full of very small patches of grass, very large looming long haul trucks that make a ton of noise (hard to pee when horns are honking at you).

Thank goodness puppies eat puppy food. Well at least most dogs want to eat whatever you put in front of them. Lady Bear? Food?

No, this has to be the first puppy ever to shy away from eating no matter what.

How do you bribe your dog to eat? Most won't need a bribe. Lady Bear needed many, many bribes in order to get food in her tummy! Yes, the journey was long and eventful. The adventure continued.
