How does the song go? Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset, swiftly go the years...
Now as my oldest son approaches his college graduation day, I can proudly remember every show he was a part of in the threatre department at UNLV, here in Las Vegas. Yes, an institution of higher learning here in Sin City!
But more than just the memory of his role in Fiddler, I am amazed at the speed in which those college years passed by. Wasn't it yesterday that they were young? Wasn't it yesterday that I cried through his high school graduation? Yes, it feels that way.
As you process the event, the emotion and the strength of character displayed by the graduate, it is important to remember just a few things:
1. Life is a precious gift bubbling over with possibilities.
2. Our ability to graduate from one possibiity to another is truly how well we understand these gifts and access them for more than just the moment.
3. Our overwhelming love, parent to child and child to parent, is not to be taken lightly. It's to be cherished, celebrated and reveared . It can quickly disappear unless we build on the foundation to help it grow and florish.
4. The graduate is a whole person, ready to explore their own possibilities, not live the ones you missed along the way.
5. Its never too late to "graduate" from your own limiting beliefs and build on your personal future, no matter how many years have passed since the last time you visited an instition of learning.
So, as the sunrise comes and the sunset goes, one season following another, be the one who stopped to smell the roses and create your own beautiful garden of possibilities.
Happy Graduation Son.

Our friends and loved ones reinforce these notions into our everyday lives and we feel trapped. We don't take a chance on ourselves. We fear offending those people who have love and nurtured us over the years. It takes courage to throw off our shackles of fears and uncertainties about ourselves and our talents and graduate to a higher plane of consciousness wherein all things are possibilites and not nightmares to dread and fear. Please log in to respond to this comment.
